Matt has kept canaries for over thirty years, he started out with a pair of red factor (a breed he still has today) and roller canaries obtained from a local fancier in a small seaside town on the North West coast of England where he stills lives today. Matts love for birds has seen him keep and develop exhibition studs of fife fancy canaries, Gloster canaries and Norwich canaries , during his time in the fancy he's also owned Mosaic canaries, borders and Lizards, In addition Matt also retains a small stud of native British finches.
In 2005 Matt launched his own website - Matts fife Canary Pages - which he still runs today answering questions from fanciers all over the world. He joined the Fife federation as a panel judge in April 2010 and is currently the General secretary of the North West Fife Fancy canary club. A successful fancier on the show bench having won colour specials at all of the top UK specialist shows Matt has also had the honour of judging the two biggest club shows in the world, his judging travels have taken him into Europe and in 2016 he hopes to judge in the US.
